The Engine
Written for another graduate. I love the imagery I've created in this one.
Within each of us there exists an engine That roils and boils and powers our drive Like others it needs fuel and I should mention The type determines if you flounder or thrive The first type of gas that we often feed in Is “impasse”-oline, inefficient and grim It gives little power and makes you sleep in Your drive ceases to move and its light grows dim The other is the power of “yet”-anol A productive and simple way to sustain By definition infinite potential Keeps the engine running like a hurricane We still switch back and forth with which one we use A battle between what’s easy and what’s right The machine from which all your life is produced A sturdy system to keep all things alright Your time here working has tuned up the gears You’ve roiled and boiled and powered your drive You’ve set the example for all of your peers Driving onward til you’ve finally arrived
