A Great Tree
Another poem for one of my graduates. I really dig this one.
Confidence lives and dies a great tree Bark of morale holding limbs of certainty A monolith of poise deceptively fragile One must act vigilant to protect from hostile Creeping vines called doubt strangling the roots Shriveling the leaves and poisoning the fruits Become an arborist to pull the weeds Tear out the hesitation and plant new seeds Fertilize with trust and water with risk Mistakes help learn, make a strong obelisk A beacon of boldness in which you’ll see How confidence lives and dies a great tree.
